I wonder if the failure of my bus engine was due to using synthetic oil...it was a pretty new engine, built by a very reputable builder. I added a filter to the oil pump...engine only lasted about 15000 miles, was told it appeared as though the engine over heated.... -Kevin -----Original Message----- From: Keith Park [mailto:topnotch@nycap.rr.com] Sent: Monday, August 22, 2005 9:51 PM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] synthetic oil and oil changing for dummies Using Synthetic without a filter is NOT reccommended by the oil manufacturer and is what was the cause of my engines distruction. You need to filter out all the neatly stored contaminants that are worked loose by the synthetic and get circulated through the bearings.
