Lowering one end won't make any difference.

Is there any chance that you've installed your calipers on the wrong sides? The
bleed valves should be on the bottoms.

When you bleed, do you get fluid out of all 4 bleed valves? Does the fluid flow
under gravity just by opening the valves?

If you let your old MC just lie around, it will be destroyed by internal rust.
After a year it may already be too late.
