I've never had any luck at all trying to inspect those bushings by sight. They're just in there so deep and recessed and dark that they always look fine to me. The one that I replaced that turned out to be worn to a C looked okay to me.... I was conpletely surprised to find it worn out when I pulled it. BTW, if you buy a rebuilt starter from Bosch, it will come with a replacement bushing and a note stating that the Bosch warrantee is only valid if the bushing is replaced along with the starter. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
