Does anyone know the size of the bolts that hold the torque converter to the
drive plate? I know they're M8, but I don't know the length. Mine only had
two bolts (one had broken off), and they don't match. . .
Interesting. It looks like different bolts were used in different years.
Up thru '70 they used a DIN 933 bolt M8 x12, with an M8 wave washer.
Starting in '71, they used a special bolt, which I'll bet has a locking hex
washer head and is used without a separate washer. It is # 003 323 699, It
might be worthwhile seeing if this is still a good part # at your dealer.
While looking this up, I also noticed that the drive plate is # 311 105 323C,
which means that there were at least 4 different versions of the drive plate,
all superceeded into this one. I wonder what they changed; I've never noticed
any differences, but I really never had more than one to inspect at a time.
