Re: [T3] MPG
<x-flowed>Heck, why doesn't some one nearby simply drive to the company and they
can take measurements directly, plus see how it's installed. BTW, are
there any differences between model years? Particularly between
early/late models?
Although it's nice to see a company make such obscure parts, I think
modern sound deadening materials would be better.
I used some stuff w/lead foil as part of its packaging in my baby and it
works great. Got it from a leading car stereo shop and it's used on the
transmission hump of vans. It conforms to the surface it's on, deadens
sound and insulates against heat (coming into the cabin, NOT for engine
compartment use). The nice thing about it is I just laid it down to
fill the whole pan and I can simply lift it out if I need to get
directly to the pan. Sorry, no pictures of it cuz my girlfriend has the
digital camera right now (mother in town) but it's really nothing much
to see.
What's interesting is that my Jetta doesn't have its sound insulation
glued to the pan, it's just laying there and EASILY removed:

There is a shop, Vintage Volkswagen Works, that is looking for some
from a Type 3 that they could use to make a pattern for so they can
start producing new ones. www.vintagevwwerks.com.
