You have to remove the front stud and replace it with the FI temp sensor, which then sticks down into the case. There are 2 kinds of head temp sensors, depending on where yours is mounted. Is it underneath, next to the # 4 exhaust flange (where it originally was for 68- 9) or on top, next to the # 4 spark plug (the better location where it was installed from 70-on?) Replacement heads often came with both tapped holes.
