Re: [T3] Frozen brake drum
<x-flowed>I have always had great luck with a small sledgehammer, a 2 pound size.
Beat until you think you're going to crack the drum, then beat some
more. The shocking motion will loosen the shoes eventually.
The biggest (or was it smallest?) problem I solved this way was a 1969
Austin Mini that was stuck in a garage, where it had been sitting for 22
years! The "floor" of this garage was just the remainders of the house's
lawn, it was more a shack than a garage, really, made of steel pans. All
4 drums were stuck, and while you might think that the Mini is small and
light, think again. All 4 wheels had sunk into the ground, all 4 were
deflated and the drums were stuck badly. Trying to pull the Mini out
with a 4wd car only resulted in the 3/4" rope snapping right off like it
was made of paper! The Mini hadnt moved an inch. After an hour's work, I
had sledged the drums, inflated the tires and filled the pot holes under
the wheels, and I managed to roll the Mini out of the garage on it's own
wheels.
