I think I realised that around the time we were indicating 90mph and I was probably desperately looking for an excuse for the Highway Patrol if stopped. ;-) As Jim suggests, you may have the plastic in back to front. The marks should be on the back of the plastic face, for protection. I assume the hole for the trip mechanism must be central, though I thought I remembered it being to one side - we didn't get trip speedos much in the UK. > Has additional marks on back of 7.72 = made in July 1972 !
