Yesterday I installed the new generator and now It doesn't produce any voltage. 0 volts are measured at the 2 poles when I disconnect the D+ and DF wires. So of course my red light comes on when I reconnect the wires to it.
Did you ground DF when checking the voltage? You have to ground DF to check the generator output. [ and don't let it go to high rpm for more than a moment, when measuring this way, things get warm. ] So if you didn't you won't get a reading.
When both wires are connected, you should be able to measure the regulated voltage at those two poles. just like measuring at the battery.
So would you say this new/rebuilt generator is no good also?
Do you have a copy of the bentley? the instructions for checking things there are pretty straightforward. [ although there are extra more complicated procedures. involving an ammeter. ]
Jim Adney's generator FAQ, is a simpler very straight forward version of the tests to run. I'll send you that in a private email.
