Hi Mathew, I just went through a similar process on a '69 Sb with FI, although our car had not been sitting near as long as yours. I was advised here on the list to clean up all the electrical connections. I used a product well known in the marine and aviation world, Corrosion X. It truly is a miracle product as it literally converts corrosion to non-corrosion. I applied Corrosion X to every electrical connection in the engine compartment and the FI began working perfectly. I'm sure I was lucky that there were no component problems with the FI, but it was definitely the Cor X that did the job. We basically were able to buy the car for just a few hundred $ because the prev owner had been trying to get the FI to work for a couple years. To give you an idea of how well this stuff works, I also collect pin ball machines, esp. the old ones that have tons of relays inside. I was once given an old pin ball machine that had been sitting outside for a year with no glass to keep the rain out. I could plug it in and nothing would come on. All the relays were corroded badly, some of them to where the copper leafs were green. I flooded everything with Corrosion X and waited a week. I then plugged it in and most of its basic functions came on. It would play a game. I still had to fix a few things, but the Cor X was a miracle. I don't own stock or have any involvement with the company. http://www.corrosionx.com/ The Rejex is the most incredible high tech coating for painted surfaces I've ever seen. Check it out too.
