Yes, the rubber attaches to the glass and the body, while standard pop out 
seals attach to the glass and the frame (both pieces).

This can go both ways, but some have even painted the chrome frame black to 
hide it (make it blend into/with the rubber). Others just eliminate the pop out 
feature. : O

Agreed, my 69 Square had non pop outs installed by one of it's PO's, and I 
found a set to install in it, as I loved them in my old 70. : )

Unfortunately, yes, we're limited to either keeping what we have, or 
eliminating them, or painting the frames if we want to keep them. Nobodies offering 
type 3 parts, so we play the hand we're dealt with. At least we don't get much 
of the offshore crap like the t-1 guys get. : )
