I finally reconditioned my 71 harness and converted the 71 back to the D Djet injection! Took a couple hours and only had to change the harness, Brain, pressure sensor and the throttle switch. Plugged it all in, adjusted the throttle switch and auxillary air regulator and it ran great... which is what I love so much about injection... its basically plug and play... a couple adjustments and your all done, runs perfectly! I do notice that the 71 system is a bit more crude, the 048 E system didnt care what speed it idled at... it would just idle there... the D version will cut the injection off if the idle speed gets too high... which is why I had to cut down on the air flow from the aux air regulator to keep it from trying to idle too fast when cold. I also notice that when I drop the throttle it shuts off the injection completely then "turns it on" when it reaches the proper idle speed again... the 048 E system is much more smooth dropping to idle and doesnt undershoot it like the D does. It *seems* to have more power... and there is only a small hesitation off the line that may be able to be tweaked out. Too early to see what the gas mileage is and the intermittant missing I was having at various throttle positions when hot was a switched 3&4 injector plugs. I really need to get it out on the highway and see what temp it runs at as compared to the E system but that may have to wait till warm weather again in the spring. Now I can pass Jim on the way to the invasion in 06 :-) Keith Keith Keith Park Top Notch Restorations topnotch@nycap.rr.com 71 Squareback 65 Notchback 65 Squareback 87 Golf 88 Rx7 10th Anniversary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
