so. I think we'll get the part anyhow from rancho. just to be safe. and go from there. When we have the old retainer plate all the way off. maybe I'll be able to tell if there really was some structural damage.

what's there on the other side. It's probably under stress there, too.<
A friend of mine just went thru this with his t-1 ghia. He had a similar
problem, and ended up sealing it with silicone (Rancho's recommendation). Of
course he also used a new "o" ring on his along with a couple of gaskets (he did
plenty of research before hand to get the clearances correct), and made sure
everything was spotlessly clean on assembly. According to him, his doesn't leak
any more. He's a tool maker, and is kinda like Keith about some stuff (this
being one of those). : )
I do agree, IRS is much simpler in this respect.
