After just buying a car that had been stored outside for a long time.
Here is what I found:
Get the tires off the ground. Cover any holes that "critters" can get
in. I am still cleaning critter crap out of the '64 Ghia. 
Make sure there is no water gettin inside the car while it is parked.
Condensation can kill it over the long term. Desicant bags would do
wonders if you can find them, and change them once it a while. I have
rust even on the underside of the dash.
