Do disconnect the battery, and preferably remove it to somewhere that will keep it from freezing. New oil is good. A full fuel tank will also cut down on condensation in the tank. There's really no substitute for regularly starting 'er up and getting up to heat. Say once a month. If it has to be every six months, squirt some Marvel oil in the cylinders first and turn it over a few times before applying spark. Do your tires a favor and put the car up on stands. This will prevent flat spots and possible early failures. This adds the advantage of letting you run through the gears once in a while to keep the transaxle lubed. If you put the stands (or blocks) under the lower shock mounts, the suspension will sit at normal extension. Just be sure that major storm runoff won't undermine your stands/blocks. Also protect the tires from sun. RV places sell covers, but any shade will do. If you can keep it all tightly tarped, your interior won't suffer as much. Just bear in mind that it has to be tight or the wind will tear it to pieces pretty quick. Leave a couple windows partway open under the tarp for ventilation. Critters can be very damaging. Keep the grass mowed under and around the car, and set mouse and/or rat traps under the seats and on top of the engine. Peanut butter works great and lasts. A good alternative to mowing is a room-sized chunk of used carpet under the car.
