I checked my USA/Canada Without Guessworks and I don't find any mention of radials in the '60-70 edition. In the 71-74 edition several are mentioned: model 21, 23: 185 SR 14 model 21, 23: 185 R 14 model 31: 165 SR 15 (for Canada only) model 41, 42: 155 SR 15 model 46: 165 SR 15 Most of these appear to have been options, but it looks like the type 4s all came (at least in these markets) with radials. > As a final point, have your friends look in their Owner's Manuals. I checked a '72 type 3 OM that I had close by, and it simply says "Your type 3 comes with bias ply tires." > Anyway, what difference does it make? Very little; it's just another bit of trivia. I was sure that it was a type 3 option later on, but it looks like I was wrong about that. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
