Yes, that's what I did on my Notch. I also carried it a little further by 
cutting the lower tube and turning it so it would follow the t-3 location.

Actually just weld 2 sticks together for a long handle is all that's needed 
(I did that too). It will fit good, but it can be a pain to find the tube in 
the dark after pulling it out to read the level.

Yes, I had to do this too. I used a brass plug, with an allen wrench end 
style on mine as it doesn't stick out as far. Be careful not to put it in too 
deep, or you can crack the opening and have a leak. I hope this helps.
