How about timing or maybe vac hose or the vac. can - it's that funny '72 twin vacuum system isn't it? They can stop if the hose loosens. When timing you need to readjust the idle with the hoses off, 850 +/-50 rpm for either type of transmission, then readjust after timing to 850 manual, or 950 auto, each +/- 50rpm. I find the vacuum has a big effect on the firing point on these at idle - they can easily stall at idle when a hose comes off.
