<x-flowed>No, just when parked to keep out the stuff falling from trees, though they should stay on when driving. Everett was also trying to keep water out as well, which I think is a much tougher challenge.
I used hot melt glue to create a dam to keep water from traveling down the arm of the windshield wiper on my truck, as that was where I was getting leaks. I can remove it with some ease in the future.
