[T3] Single Port heads

I have an older single port engine I bought at a swap meet last summer. Some
of the valves were stuck so I pulled the heads and attempted to put a set of
replacements on. When on I noticed that the top studs were too short for the
replacement heads. I then noticed that the rocker rails on the old heads
were bolted down and the new heads had a stud and a nut. I am curious if
anyone is familiar with the older single port heads and do I just need to
get longer studs to make this work.
