That IS the L. Just look at the VW # right next to the Bosch #.

It's just because the vacuum port in the dual carb system is positioned 
diffeently, so that it gives out vacuum when the FI dist is expecting less, and 
vice versa. The '67 dist was a vacuum only dist, so it's needs were different. 
There's still some advantage to just using the mech adv part of the dist. The 
dist you have has a nice advance curve.

I'm not familiar with timing marks before '68. So do you just have 3 marks, all 
evenly spaced about 1/4" apart? If so, those marks are for 7.5, 10, & 12.5 deg 
BTDC.
