I drove the square for the last time today... for this year. I had that occational miss and a cruise control that was twitchy and irratic so I did 2 things... changed the condensor (although the points looked fine) and found that the little ball bearing in the cup that holds the breaker plate down was much too loose, so i incresed the spring pressure by loosening the screw and pushing it down and all seems fine now. I only got a few miles on it with the cruise but it seems fine now. I suspect that my cruise problem was distributor related all along, the old distributor had a breaker plate that was shot and the new one has one that wasnt assembled properly (too loose). So... I learn from my own advice to not just go out and buy a new part without really narrowing down the problem. I have a spare servo now :) The high temp tape I used on the exaust blew out... so Mr. Stinky is back. perhaps the braided stuff Russ mentions would have worked better but Im going to try the Super Copper RTV next. In the spring! For now... the Square settles in for a long winters nap, and I get my aircooled fix soley from the list.
