those were some pretty health crates. They were expected to make guite a
few trips across the pond. And the engine was bolted to a steel angle
bracket that was heavey enough to carry the weight of a 277 lbs engine
while in shipping.

It didn't need them. The suppressors were in the plug wire ends, and the
rotor. And that was the shorter distributor, so it wasn't as close to
the engine lid. The black 90's for the distributor don't have
suppressor's anyway.
