Quick question..........car ran good, no unusual noises, no miss'es,

does it "feel" solid when it hits, like it hits something hard? Carbon
should not feel as solid, as say a valve head, nut or some metal part in the
cylinder.

Yes, I drove the car in there, and the engine was running fine last time. It doesn't feel that solid, and I can't hear any metalic sort of noises when I turn the engine up against the obstruction. I listened down by the heads with the spark plugs out, but couldn't work out which cylinder it was from the noise.

Have you pulled the valve covers and looked at the valve stems, springs,
rockers, etc?

Yes they were all fine, and had clearance (although I didn't check it with the feeler gauge, but at this point I don't think that would make that much difference).

Assuming only one cylinder is causing the trouble, you can tell which of
the two is causing it to lock up, by...... , blowing air in the tail pipe,
with the plug out, exhaust valve open on one and another of those cylinders.
If its carbon locked, you should see some come out of the plug hole.

Yes, that is a good idea. If I am lucky I will be able to blow it out. I will have to use a bit of hose and my mouth though, I don't have power at my shed.

I'm just not to sure I buy the carbon theory. Don't over look something
in the bell housing, flywheel hitting a pressure plate bolt..........throw
out bearing clip, etc, etc.

I am hoping that it is just carbon at this stage, it seems funny that a serious problem would develop just like that after it had been sitting.
