Re: [T3] Seized Engine??

Quick question..........car ran good, no unusual noises, no miss'es,
no.......... when parked? When you roll the engine over till it locks up,
does it "feel" solid when it hits, like it hits something hard? Carbon
should not feel as solid, as say a valve head, nut or some metal part in the
cylinder.
Have you pulled the valve covers and looked at the valve stems, springs,
rockers, etc?
On a four cylinder engine for balance reasons, two of the four pistons
reach TDC at the same time. You should be able to determine which cylinder
(out of two) is causing the trouble by, figuring out which two cylinders are
at TDC, remove the distributor cap and look at the rotor to see where your
at in the firing order. Cylinders number (one and three), cylinders number
(two and four) reach TDC at the same time (one firing and one exhausting).
Assuming only one cylinder is causing the trouble, you can tell which of
the two is causing it to lock up, by...... , blowing air in the tail pipe,
with the plug out, exhaust valve open on one and another of those cylinders.
If its carbon locked, you should see some come out of the plug hole.
If your hitting some solid object in the cylinder, it would have to be
some part of the valve train, or something that inter through the intake
valve.
I'm just not to sure I buy the carbon theory. Don't over look something
in the bell housing, flywheel hitting a pressure plate bolt..........throw
out bearing clip, etc, etc.
This is a good one, please post the answer to the mystery!
    Good luck!

Howard
