I have a screw driver I refer to as "Big Bertha". It is about 3 feet
long and has a blade that is about 3/4" wide. It also has a square shank
that I can apply a wrench to for help.



Well, I can't claim that I own such a monster. Mine is big enough that I have hardly ever used it for actually turning a screw, until today when it finally found its vocation. It's mostly used for prying things, etc.

I've heard of this and did try holding the screwdriver in the slot in the screw and whacking it with a hammer. Who knows, maybe it worked.
