My squareback has Dunlop Cavalinos on it, and they handle quite well. 
They have been on there for 70,000 miles so far (since 1994), and I 
should probably get another 20,000 out of them. They are not as smooth 
as the XZX's that I have on my Fastback, but they are not far behind.

XZX's are definitely my favorite tyres, when I bought some new tyres 
for my Beetle a few years ago, I enquired about the Michelins, and the 
tyre place said that they had been replaced with and FXS or something 
like that?? (I know it had an 'F' in the code somewhere). At the time 
they were something like NZ$250 each so I went with Dunlops which were 
a lot cheaper.
