I've always felt a bit guilty on this. When I first got the Fastback, it was leaking steadily from the front seal - a drip every second or so. The PO had overfilled the sump too, either to make it less likely to run out, or maybe the seal blew because of overfilling. I took it for a drive up the road as it was still had a few days of MoT to run, and off up a long hill to check its climbing ability. The road was wet, and on the way back after turning round, there was a crashed car in the field about 15 feet below road level, with a couple of young guys standing beside it. Now maybe they had simply over-cooked it on the bend with a wet road, but I still wonder if the drips of oil played a part in their downfall. Dave.
