[T3] Air Cleaner

I was considering replacing the original oil bath air cleaner on my FI '73
with a modern element type of filter eg K&N.  Has any body done this? What,
if any, are the consequences for engine temps and performance?  My
motivation is because Australia is generally pretty dusty and I think a
modern filter is more effective.
