Wow, isn't it amazing how many little things we can eventually come up with, once we put our minds to it. > The painted portion of the spare rim you can see looks like it has been > repainted. I don't see that. I'm not sure I can see any of the spare's rim. Most of that is the tire's sidewall. I can't see enough of the stock wheel that he shows with the trim ring and hubcap, either. That looks fine to me. I wrote him earlier and mentioned all the things that point to this being a '68, including how to read the VIN. Now I just went back to that page and I find that the bids have all been cancelled and he has added a note that it is a '68. There's a note that the bidder contacted him and backed out of the auction, so I would guess that the bidder is on the type 3 list and decided he didn't want to pay that much for a '68. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
