At least in '68, type 3s came with:

squares: 600 -15L 6PR

(where the L was a subscript, which I THINK stood for something like "light 
truck")

I think this meant that the carcass was rated to have the strength of 6 bias 
ply layers, by someone's scale. If you looked at the small print on the tire I 
believe the actual number of plys of each kind of fiber were called out.

fastys: 600-15, 4PR

As above, but four ply rating.
