It really is a Type 3 front sway bar, as shown on pg.
145 of Bill Fisher's "How to Hod Rod VW Engines"

Good to know!
 
With Greg's tip on using a vise grips to squeeze the
clamps together, I was able to get it installed.

Body roll in the turns is noticeably reduced.  Haven't
driven in a crosswind yet, but hopefully crosswind
sensitivity will be reduced too.
