I'm not sure. I've never actually seen one that was still on the car and loose. 
I've always just come in after one was replaced.

But there are a LOT of possibilities for vibrations. The most common ones are 
the heat shields on the OEM mufflers, missing cooling tin screws, and the 
little elbows on top of the hot air mixing boxes (missing attachment screw, 
especially in '71s.)

On a dual carb engine, I have also seen engines with the large O-rings that 
seal between the top of the carbs and the air cleaner missing. This could also 
rattle. The steel pipe that carries fuel thru the front engine bulkhead is 
another candidate.
