The total shim count is 8-10 and this never changes, as you simply move shims around. Never remove them completely. I checked the microfilm and it shows the quantity as X, which means that it varied from the factory. I have no idea why. I try to sell pulley parts individually since they are NLA. As it happens, I have a spare inner half right now, as well as LOTs of shims. If your outer pulley half is in pretty good shape, you could probably re-use it, but if it is warped you'll need the whole thing. Don't try to use a beetle pulley, they're different. The only thing you want is a good used type 3 pulley. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
