<x-flowed>For my insurance company, when I got rear-ended in my Jetta by a &%^#$! 
mini-van driver (who admitted to all of us he was at fault), I was on 
the phone making sure it was noted that the accident was NOT my fault.  
In my situation I haven't been penalized for the accident (yeay!).  But 
some companies don't care, they just want more money.

Oh, and they ARE out to screw you over so don't give in.  When an old 
Philomath farmer ran a stop sign and caused my first accident in my 
Squareback he and his insurance company weren't going to give me the 
$1300 for repairs (that's ALL I asked for).  So I got estimates from 
several air-cooled knowledgeable shops then filed for small claims 
court, having the sheriff deliver the summons ($35 at the time).  Well 
what do you know...his insurance company gave me my money!
