I'll second that. Setting it where it runs "best" is an almost certain way to 
destroy the engine. They really run great with lots of advance; they just don't 
run that way for long.  ;-(

I think there are also differences in the vacuum advance drillings between 
different generations of throttle bodies, so you would need to be careful to 
make sure that the replacement was the same as yours.
