I love the FI, but I think this claim was "just a bit overstated." Our system does sense temp and air pressure, but there's no feedback mechanism to tell it how it's doing. That only came with the much later systems which have the Lambda sensors, which sense oxygen levels in the exhaust and feed this information back to the FI system.
