There is a purchasable tool with a spring loaded center flat for just such situations. They are made in both common and Philips configurations. I have one of each, they come in real handy for the screw that holds down points. I don't know the OD of the jet head, but these are about 7mm diameter (.25 inch). I can take a picture of them, if you want to know what to look for at yard sales, but I need someone to post them to the web.
