Either will work. I probably would do these myself, that way I know ALL the 
rust holes are covered. On that note, we modified a pair of t-1 heat exchangers 
for my son's Roadster. Added some length to the pipes, and then lengthed the 
tin to get it where it would be useable on a t-3 (a case of more time than 
money). At least he got those "J" pipes off, as they don't make any heat at all. 
He was just wanting something to help take the chill off on a summer's night.
