My 87 CIS Golf quit on me over the weekend, shut it off and no restart but it did fire a few times, long story short it was the first time in my life that I actually needed a tow... I could have had it going if Knew it like my Square but I didnt know which was the Fuel pump relay. BUT... when I found it, and it was the problem (Bad solder... imagine that!) I decided to learn how the system works as there was 'lectronics inside! Well... they fuel pump safety cutout is now entirely in this relay, the ignition switch gives you power to start the pump but only if it see's ignition pulses from the tach line... the only thing it doesnt seem to have is the 1.5 second priming. SO... if you putting an electric fuel pump on a non-standard FI or carbs for that matter and need that safety system its easy to do with a Golf CIS (and probably others) fuel pump relay, but resolder it first :-) Keith Keith Park Top Notch Restorations topnotch@nycap.rr.com 71 Squareback 65 Notchback 65 Squareback 87 Golf 88 Rx7 10th Anniversary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
