Actually all Type 3 autos were true 3-speed automatics, not the Auto-stick that was in the beetles. The Type 3 autos are reliable, stout boxes.


As for FI, it showed up in 1968 on all U.S. spec Type 3s. VW continued to make carbed Type 3s through the end of production for other markets. If it is a U.S. spec car and 1968 or newer it should be FI.
