Where the release is in the glove compartment, you should make SURE that the screw that fastens the release lever to the actual dash is in place. This screw head is visible from inside the glove compartment, right near the lever. It is often left out, which leads to hard releasing, and destruction of the glove box. This screw is REALLY IMPORTANT! In the trunk, the release point MAY need to be adjusted, but this is rare. You can pull the wire out and lube it. If your wire has an actual plastic coating on the wire itself, make sure that it isn't cracked at the end, where it can snag on the housing tube, which will make it really hard to release. I've also seen wires which had gotten carpet adhesive on them at the factory, which makes them sticky, and cleaning that off will make a huge difference. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
