Hi all, A couple of days ago my driver's side door handle broke so I felt that it was time for a trip to the wrecking yard (my first in the 2 years that I've owned my daily driver). When I arrived I went straight to the VW section and found 1, only 1 1970 Fastback. The passenger side was missing the door handle, but when I went around to the driver's side I was overjoyed to see the handle still there, complete and in working order. The fastback was pretty much stripped, but I still took what I could. It had a complete pedal cluster, so I took it (I had to weld the clutch hook on mine a month ago, so a replacement will be handy for when the weld breaks). It had a complete carpet set that was a bit wet, but no rips and mould, because it was so easy to take out I removed it all. From the looks of it the car had been restored at some point because the cal look seals looked quite good and the carpet almost new. I also got a good set (for one door) of inner and outer scrappers and aluminium trim that goes on top of the rockers (am I right? where the floor vent is). All in all I paid AU$30. Just thought I share my good fortune.
