In any case there's practically nothing that an owner can fix under the 
bonnet of a modern car. However this probably also means that in thirty 
years time enthusiasts will not be able to restore and work on one of 
today's cars, should they want to.

I used to have a Ford Focus, in which everything under the bonnet was 
hidden inside black boxes.

Not having to fix a car is one thing, not having to drive it is quite 
another. Why not just get a taxi and save having to buy it too?
