In any case there's practically nothing that an owner can fix under the bonnet of a modern car. However this probably also means that in thirty years time enthusiasts will not be able to restore and work on one of today's cars, should they want to.


I used to have a Ford Focus, in which everything under the bonnet was hidden inside black boxes.



The technology also exists for cars to travel down the highway
without driver input via tracking of sensors in the roadway.

Not having to fix a car is one thing, not having to drive it is quite another. Why not just get a taxi and save having to buy it too?
