[T3] Woodward Dream Cruise
<x-flowed>Actually calling it a cruise is a bit of a misnomer. It was more like
the Woodward Dream Traffic Jam. I made one trip from up Woodward and
back down (approximately 20 miles) in a little over 6 hours. YES, 6
Hours!!!! Leg and foot got real sore working the clutch.
Sophy ran great the whole time. I got lots of comments and compliments
from the people lining the streets and from fellow cruisers. Some of
the local Michigan Vintage VW Club folks set up a spot in restaurant
parking lot. Hung out there for a while and talked VWs and Type 3s.
Couldn't believe my eyes. There were 5 Type 3s in the parking lot! 5
out of maybe 15 VWs! We had Sophy, Mike Novak's 73 Fasty, Dave
Sanchez's 73 Square that was accessorized to the max, a Type 3 pick-up
conversion, and a really clean 69 Dark Green Square that was for sale
(if anyone is interested I took some pictures of it and the sign with
the phone number, asking around $4500).
All in all a good day, but I think I will park and walk next time.
Will make much better time. <G>
Later,
John Jaranson
'66 Square (Sophy)
'71 Fasty (Jane - darkside project in waiting)
various parts.....don't we all.
