Re: [T3] I had a carb problem too!

One of my Type 3s had a manufacturing fault and never ran well for the first
owner. The second owner bought it about 6 months old, and when he carefully
dismantled the carbs he found a hair in one, partly blocking a narrow passage.
After that the car ran fine. I was owner number 3, and confess that after many
years of faithful service, too many people had run into it (honestly!), and too
much water had got where it shouldn't, that I've only parts of it left now
including the carbs just in case. Owner #2 was the one who soldered small pipes
into the air-cleaner over the carbs openings to attach a U-tube manometer for
balancing. Nothing works better for balancing the carbs as the stock air-intake
is still attached to the carbs, and you can check the balance at all RPMs too.
A tyre valve cap closes the tubes off.
