RE: [T3] Invasion mileage

I would AVERAGING 24 mpg was pretty darn good! It's one thing to say I
get 30 mpg and mean just highway mileage. This would mean around town
you probably are getting 20-22mpg and your average would 24-25mpg.

Jim? Faster than 60? Noooooooooooo..... oh, wait:

I hooked up with Jim and John in Toledo, and let me tell you they were
hauling the mail BOTH ways. : ) I actually got better mileage on my
return trip
(before we showed Tom the "conservation of momentum theory" (we thought
he had
cruise control too)). Once Tom found out about that, we were really
moving. Once
we got onto I-80, I don't think we did less than 65 (unless it was a
construction zone) until we got off the highway (rest area, toll booth,
or fuel stop).
But I was getting 21.3 on the ride home (in a Notch) so I'm thinking the

areodynamics might not be as good as a Square. I'm not really sure about
that, but
it sounds good. : )
I averaged 24 mpg for the whole trip though, which is understandable,
since
I knew my car wasn't right, as I had been working on a medium to high
speed
miss for the preceeding 2 days before leaving (turned out to be a coil
going
bad, that I found after changing everything else on wednesday). I guess
I should
have left the Weber 34's and 009 on, instead of putting the SVDA
distributor
in and swapping over to the Solexes. It might have been the exhaust
change I
made 2 weeks prior too, since I hadn't had a chance to really get a
mileage
reading from that swap either ( I put most of the engine "stock
appearing" during
the last 3 weeks of July ). I'm really not worried about the mpg though,
as
the car ran and drove great the whole time, was one of 3 Notchbacks
there (the
only one with a factory sunroof), and didn't have a set of 8 spokes on
it
(inside joke to those that know, right Keith : ) ).
