It's possible. I've never been clear on what the "Basic Compact" designation 
meant. I'm pretty sure that it was just a VWoA designation and you might be 
right about the M233 part.

I've seen a late fasty without a clock (had the dummy insert instead) which I 
thought might have been this model, but that's the only one like it that I've 
ever seen like that. I'm guessing that they were not particularly popular.

Russ, what can you tell us about the "Basic Compacts"?
