In a nutshell... then dont touch the stock brakes, they are more than adequate but put bigger wheels and tires on it. Tire choice is most important, and some of the very stickey tires that will stop on a dime on dry warm roads are lousy on cold wet ones. But tires open up an entirely different thread...
