You can look up the advance curves in the Bentley manual and compare them to the other years. It looks pretty decent to me. The vac advance curve depends on the vac can, so you will have to ignore that one. > Yup,got it.Timing worked out fine.No hose kinking. The question remains, how fast does the vacuum advance come in. If it comes in too soon you'll get advance when your engine can't tolerate it, if it comes in too slow your gas mileage will suffer. Since the vac adv is inactive on our FI cars at idle, there is no simple way to check that this is working correctly. You COULD just suck on the vac hose while watching the timing and see how much advance you're getting. That would verify at least one of the parameters that Bosch varies (I forgot to mention this one earlier.) -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
